Tips & Hints:
- If possible, give the process server a description or better yet email or give a photo of the person to whom is being served. Vehicle makes, license plates numbers and even a bumper sticker description are very helpful as well.
- If you know, tell the process server about the habits of the person you want served. For example: are they generally always home from work by 6:00 PM; they usually always hang-out at a particular spot; what time they usually go to work; are they generally always home on weekends, or are they drunk by noon.
- Obviously provide both home and work addresses of the person you want served. Verify that an address you have provided is a good address. If the address turns out to be incorrect you will be charged anyway.
- Will the person being served be evasive? Are they expecting to be served? Is the person violent & belligerent or ill tempered? For our own peace of mind and safety, we like to know the sordid details. Save the surprises for Christmas.
- Don't ask the process server for legal advice. You are the individual that needs to be aware of the legal ramifications and content of your papers, not the process server. Remember the process server is neutral, not a party to the action and doesn't have an issue with the person they are serving. For Legal Questions consult an Attorney or contact the Court.
- Plan ahead! Know the deadlines for all documents you need served. Rush Service will result in additional fees. ST1 does NOT file your paperwork with the Court.
